Penny has over 26 years of experience as an occupational therapist that include working with children who have special learning needs. Penny is also a mother of a child with dyslexia who has shown great success in overcoming reading difficulties. Penny is certified in Handwriting Without Tears, received her Doctorate Degree in Occupational Therapy from Loma Linda University and Master’s in Occupational Therapy at Samuel Merritt College. Penny has dedicated her research to dyslexia and its impact on occupation: The lived experience.

Carissa has been with The Dyslexia Center of Tulsa for 3 years, where she has had the privilege to be a part of the continuing growing success. With multiple years in customer service and office management, she strides to always help out in any way possible.

Sarah earned her Occupation Therapy Assistant degree at Tulsa Community College. She has explored the OT world by working at various skilled nursing facilities with Geriatrics but has found her true calling working with kids. She has enjoyed working along side and being mentored by Penny for the past 4 years

Kathryn Mitchell has 15 years teaching experience in Elementary Education. She is originally from Pryor, OK and taught for the Pryor Public School system. She received her B.S. Degree in Elementary Education with a teaching minor in Learning Disabilities from Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, OK. She enjoys cooking, reading, and walking her dogs.

Jill is from Tulsa, OK. Prior to starting at the Dyslexia Center of Tulsa, Jill spent over 10 years in customer service positions. Jill’s varied background in the medical field and as a Marketing Coordinator provided the perfect foundation for her position as an Occupational Therapy Technician. Jill adores working with the kids that come to the clinic and strives to help them reach their goals…while having a ton of fun!
|Crystal Whelan, Certified Teacher
Crystal has 10 years of experience as a special education teacher. She has recently become a reading specialist after earning her MS in Teaching, Learning, & Leadership: Literacy at OSU. She is married and has two teenage sons. She loves reading, movies, time with family, and helping kids learn to read.
