Mrs. Braswell attended Texas Women’s University. She received a Bachelor’s of Science in Deaf Education; certified in 1988. Mrs. Braswell taught Deaf children from the age range of two through six. It was this experience that convinced Mrs. Braswell that she needed to become fluent in American Sign Language. Mrs. Braswell receive an Associate’s Degree in Interpreting for the Deaf from Tulsa Community College; certified in 1992. The early years in her career were focused on interpretation for the members of the Deaf community. In addition, Mrs. Braswell is fluent in Spanish. Her passion for teaching lead her to homeschool her 6 children.
One unique characteristic about the Braswell family is that 4 of their 6 children have dyslexia that ranges from severe to mild. It became Mrs. Braswell’s passion to help her children overcome the hurdles most associated with dyslexia. She feels her greatest accomplishment has been the success of her children over the past 20 years. This expanded out to provide such services to other homeschool students. Mrs. Braswell has especially enjoyed teaching reading, Elementary and Jr. High math, Spanish, speech and essay writing.
